  • Abrasive Discs

Discs are available in many different sizes and backings.

Abrasive Fibre Discs are designed to be used on an angle grinder for material removal and surface preparation.  The grit is bonded to a fibre backing which has a centre hole to fix it to the machine.  Abrasive Fibre discs can be used on steels, steel alloys, non ferrous material, glass, stone, marble, plastics and ceramics and are used in a variety of industries.

Fibre discs are supplied in sizes from 100mm to 230mm diam.  There are various grain types available including Aluminium Oxide, Zirconia, Silicon Carbide and Ceramic each manufactured for a different application.  Grit sizes start at 16g (coarse) for heavy stock removal, to 320g (fine) for surface finishing.

Abrasive Flap Discs are designed to be used on an angle grinder, but are different to abrasive fibre discs in that they have many flaps of abrasive bonded to a backing which can be either fibreglass, plastic or steel. These are also used for material removal and surface preparation.

The grinding surface of the Abrasive Flap discs can be either flat or angled dependant on the application.  They come in diameters 100mm to 180mm and in grit sizes from 36g (coarse) to 120 g (fine).  For grain type you can choose between Aluminium Oxide, Zirconia or Ceramic grain.

Velcro Discs are designed for use on a backing pad and can be supplied with or without dust extraction holes.  The Velcro system makes them easy to fit and remove.  They can be used on metal, wood, primer, filler, paint, lacquer, plastic, marble, glass and solid surfaces.

The most popular sizes are 125mm and 150mm although other sizes are available.  Backings include paper, cloth, film and sponge, and can be coated in any of the following grain, Aluminium Oxide, Silicon Carbide, Zirconia, Ceramic and Diamond.  Grit sizes start at 40g (coarse) and go as fine as 4000g (fine).

Self Adhesive Discs are similar in design to velcro discs but the method of attaching the disc to the backing pad is by way of a glue backing instead of Velcro.
