Convolute, Unitised and Clean & Strip are the main types of non woven abrasive wheels.
Convolute wheels are manufactured by winding non woven abrasive material around a central bore. They are used for deburring and finishing on a wide range of metal components. The wheels produce a consistent finish because they are continuously exposing fresh abrasive to the workpiece. The wheels are available in Aluminium Oxide and Silicon Carbide in grades coarse, medium and fine. Usual sizes are 150mm and 200mm diam and from 12mm to 50mm thick.
Unitised wheels are made by compressing pieces of non woven abrasive material into a block and then punching out the required shape. The wheels are used for deburring and blending operations on all metals. The wheels are available in Aluminium Oxide and Silicon Carbide in grades coarse, medium and fine. Usual sizes are 25mm to 200mm diam. This product is also available in a Tp 27 depressed centre disc for use on an angle grinder.
Clean & Strip wheels are made using a web of nylon fibres impregnated with coarse abrasive grain. They are designed to remove rust, paint and other coatings from metal components and for pre and post weld cleaning in metal fabrication applications. They can be used on all metal, corrosion and coatings. They are available as wheels with a centre hole, spindle mounted wheels and Tp 27 depressed centre disc for use on an angle grinder. Sizes range from 100mm to 200mm diam.
